I wish I read a post like this when I was just starting
First things first, Merry Christmas to you all.
I really wish you all the best this coming year.
Now when I first decided to build an online business, there wasn’t a clear roadmap to follow.
Back then, if I wanted to learn what worked, I had to pay a premium for courses that detailed various business ideas.
However, many of these ideas were far too advanced for a beginner like me, and no one told me about this before I invested in those courses.
If only there was a beginner-friendly way to make money online.
Well, there is.
In this guide, I’ll share a simple “3-in-1” business idea that’s perfect for beginners.
Beforehand all three income streams share one common factor ‘keywords”.
Now, here’s how you can turn your existing skills into three profitable income streams:
Income Stream 1: Turn Your Knowledge into an eBook
Yes, an eBook.
Don’t overthink this side hustle.
It could be as simple as a 7-14 page eBook packed with valuable insights based on your skills or expertise.
If you’re unsure what to write about, that’s okay! I’ve crafted a ChatGPT prompt to help you brainstorm:
Prompt:
Hey, I’m [your name], a [brief description of yourself]. I’m exceptionally skilled in [your hobbies, skills, degrees, or knowledge]. I want to write a book and need niche ideas based on my skillset. List niche ideas, not book ideas.
For example:
“Hey, I’m [Rose], a 24-year-old. I’m exceptionally skilled in building relationships, sales, and negotiation. I want to write a book and need umbrella niche ideas based on my skill set, alongside my target audience.”
You might have to use this prompt more than once before you find the perfect niche for you.
Nevertheless, ChatGPT will generate a list of niches tailored to your skills.
Once you have your niche, you can use ChatGPT once again to generate keywords related to it.
For this, you’ll need to use specific prompts to get ChatGPT to generate potential keywords that are perfect for your niche.
I included these keyword research prompts in my ebook “the art of keyword research”.
All you need to do is tweak the prompts with the specifics of your target audience and their needs.
And with the prompt, ChatGPT will generate a list of keywords you could create an eBook on.
I used the prompts for our special niche example, and this is what I got.
Then, analyze those keywords on Amazon to identify profitable eBook ideas with high demand and low competition.
During my keyword research on ChatGPT, I came across the keyword "how to advance your career."
And during my analysis, I found it was in demand as it was auto-suggested by Amazon.
and also had low competition (our benchmark being search results fewer than 1,000 search results).
And to put into perspective how much you could possibly make, with just about 85 reviews and a paperback price of around $20.14, this ebook has brought in a revenue of at least $1,711.90 (most likely more, since many buyers don’t leave reviews).
Keep in mind that this is revenue, not commission, as Amazon takes a huge share of the revenue, especially since this is a paperback.
But this is just revenue from one book; and the author could easily have a library of these kinds of books bringing in revenue from traffic on Amazon.
This side hustle isn’t far-fetched.
With the right keywords, you can easily create an eBook using platforms like Canva or Google Docs and sell it on Amazon KDP
Amazon KDP was really one of the first realistic businesses I tried out online.
I remember my excitement when I made my first KDP sale—it was the start of something big!
Income Stream 2: Turn Your eBook into a Course
Creating an eBook helps you uncover the niches you could focus on, but why stop there when you could take those eBooks and turn them into an outline for your course?
Yes, as a beginner, I sold courses online and made passive income from them.
I used a platform called Udemy, and right now, they have over 78.8 million visitors.
Using a proper keyword strategy, I was able to leverage their traffic source to drive buyers to my course and reached over 1,999 students (both free and paid) with a low-budget course on Udemy.
Here’s a screenshot of a payout I received from Udemy.
And I mean it when I say it was a low-budget course.
I just used a laptop (that wasn’t mine) with OBS screen recording software, read off a slide, and got paid on Udemy.
So, let’s say we wanted to turn the same niche idea we found earlier on.
We can tailor those ideas to fit Udemy.com during our keyword research.
We could also generate new ideas using those specific prompts I talked about and tailor them as well.
This is because Udemy uses more short-tail keywords, so instead of "Career transition guide for professionals,"
You could use “career transition”.
The ChatGPT prompt basically gives you the ideas and you then analyze them on Udemy to see which one fits.
And as you can see, “Career transition” is a more profitable keyword to go after since it’s being suggested by Udemy.
And for the competition in this case (Udemy being an exception to our less than 1000 search results rule based on my personal experience), this keyword has less than 10,000 search results.
So yes, Udemy could be your second income stream.
Income Stream 3: Start a YouTube Channel
At this point, you have two income streams running. Why not create a YouTube channel around the same niche?
When I started online, I experimented with various niches until I found one that worked.
I used simple tools like my phone’s screen recording feature and OBS to create videos, and my channel eventually grew to over 1.5k subscribers.
Growing on YouTube doesn’t require viral videos.
Instead, focus on ranking in YouTube’s search engine using keywords.
Yes, the same keywords you found during your keyword research can help you grow a YouTube audience.
By serving as a source for content ideas.
And with a dedicated community, you can easily promote your eBook and course, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem of digital products that run without marketplaces.
Conclusion
There you have it: three simple income streams to make your first $100 online.
Throughout this guide, I’ve emphasized the importance of keywords.
Whether it’s for Amazon KDP, Udemy, or YouTube, keyword research is a very important piece of the puzzle.
Now to make this process easier, I launched my eBook, The Art of Keyword Research.
This guide provides detailed ChatGPT prompts to help you go from niche ideas to profitable keywords for digital products.
It’s not just for KDP and Udemy—it works for marketplaces like Fiverr, Creative Fabrica, Teachers Pay Teachers, and more.
